Child Care Programs In Crystal Lake, IL & South Elgin, IL

We offer programs for children ranging from infant to school age. If you have any questions about these programs, please feel free to contact us.

INFANTS

Our infant area provides the highest quality care in an environment that is designed with the parent and child in mind. While in our care, the children are stimulated through music, exercise, outdoor blanket time, facial and verbal mimicking as well as lots of hugs and tickles. The Learning Hills believes that learning begins at birth. Our center is designed to provide a safe, happy place for your little ones where they can grow and develop at their own pace. Our infant program serves children from 6 weeks of age until 15 months. Babies eat, sleep and play according to individual needs, helping them to feel safe and develop to their full potential. We understand that child development begins early and our staff is focused on facilitating learning at the earliest stage, which is what separates us from other child care facilities. Our teachers recognize that every infant is unique with their own emotions, abilities and interests. We have created a program that focuses on the individual needs of each child. Our teachers take the time to develop an understanding of your child’s personality and developmental needs

TODDLERS

At this age, children are meeting new challenges as fast as they come. Crawling, walking and eventually running are levels they accomplish in what seems like a blink of an eye. Children learn best if they are in a stimulating environment. Music, stories, outdoor play, and learning simplicities envelop much of the day. Our caregivers are dedicated in helping each child develop these skills through a trusting and loving relationship. A parental daily report is given to update each family on meal times, nap times, toilet training and all activities accomplished each day.

Our teachers are caring and trained in early childhood learning so they can help your child learn at his or her own pace. They work with each child’s personality to give them a positive experience where learning is part of everyday life rather than taught at specific times.

PRESCHOOLERS

Preschool age children are exploring their worlds, learning about boundaries and independence. At The Learning Hills we work to foster an environment where preschoolers learn in a safe, fun way. Our teachers help prepare your child for school by providing the foundational building blocks for lifelong learning. Our curriculum inspires children to use their imaginations and to explore the world at their own pace. Preschoolers at our child care center learn through play, various planned activities and using different tools that are provided.

Areas of focus include the following:

  • Literacy and Language – Children listen to stories and expand their vocabulary while learning to recognize letters as well as their name.
  • Math – Children will be introduced to numbers and counting as well as grouping objects, which provide the foundation of future math lessons.
  • Science – The teachers provide opportunities for children to observe and learn from the world around them while creating fun and safe experiments.
  • Social skills – Preschoolers develop their ability to play with friends, learning important character traits for future interactions and relationships with people.
  • Emotional skills – Teachers praise the children as they learn how to do things on their own, giving them self-confidence to tackle more complicated tasks as they grow.
  • Gross and fine motor skills – Through play and fun activities, children continue to develop their gross motor skills while learning fine motor skills through drawing, puzzles and other art projects.

SCHOOL AGE

As children get older and more independent, they need new challenges. That’s why we offer a school-age program for before and after school care and enrichment programs that address the changing and more varied needs of growing school-age children. Reading, math, and science activities ensure that your child's mind is engaged and help create a lifelong love of learning and exploration.

We understand that children spend hours learning in a structured environment inside the classroom. We continue their education through fun and learning-based activities. In addition to traditional school subjects, we focus on teaching about health and fitness through making healthy choices and physical play as well as developing character as they interact with teachers and each other. Through the use of art, science and music, we build upon the education the children receive at school. At the same time, we recognize that each child is unique and has distinct interests and skills, which our teachers work to develop.

School District 300 school buses will provide transportation to and from our center to students who attend Lincoln Prairie Elementary School.
